Base windows was an odd one that took a while to find the right window to scan. Most of the beds aren't scannable (this is changing in the next build). You still can't scan the plant wall interior decoration. The lightstick is all over the map but only scannable at Marg's Greenhouse. The 3 designs of pots to grow plants were all unscannable until you hit the 1 unique one that was scannable in their current locations. I've probably flagged a couple of dozen of these objects in bases that I expected to be scannable but were not. Naturally, players wanted the original too. The line was that we were intended to build the Seatruck Aquarium Modules or Alien Containment if we wanted a fish tank. The only reason to flag it unscannable is if they do not intended for it to be buildable in BZ. They had to deliberately set it not to be scannable. It's a copy and paste from a fully playtested asset from the original game. There's really no other reason for the aquarium. My guess is that originally, some of those assets were not intended to be scannable and buildable in the game, like the aquarium.

My guess is that this isn't lost on the programmers, who aren't stupid people. That way, when the art team places the objects in the first place, it has the default intended ability and they don't have to go back object-by-object throughout every place in the environment they ever used the asset and manually change each. You'd think it'd be far easier to build the object database for the items with a flag for 'scannable' already set to 'yes' by default.
